Book Fun
So, I'm working on a new web page at UofM (http://umdrive.memphis.edu/blstuart/htdocs/) and I get a link to Amazon's page for the book. And there are a couple of interesting things. First, they have a quote from one of the reviewers. He's a professor at Saint Xavier University, and he seems to really like it. Of course, the encouragement of family and friends has been invaluable. But a comment from someone in the community of potential customers is a really nice bonus. The other neat bit is that it would appear that they have already had some preorders. I'm currently ranked as the 1.2 millionth (approximately) best seller of their books. Certainly no Harry Potter. But for a text book that's not out yet, it does suggest a reason to be hopeful. And I was curious, so I went and looked at a number of other CS-type books and the ones I found ones ranging from the 10,000th best seller to the 5 millionth. Don't know how they calculate it, but it's still cool. While all this suggests that it could do well, the real test is still yet to come.
