Another milestone

Well, I'm not sure if there's really any point to writing here anymore. As near as I can tell, nobody reads it anyway. But I've just hit a milestone on the book and feel like recording it, at least moreso than doing any other work. I've just sent off the revised preface. So the writing is done for the most part. There's still some editing to do, and even very little of that. The instructor's manual is still looming out there, but I'm not thinking about it today. So even though much of the rest of my life is fraught with significant issues, the book is starting to become a reality. That actually feels kind of strange to say, because it's been nearly 2 years since I signed the contract. But for so long it seemed so far out there that it didn't always seem entirely real. So on balance, I'm in a descently good mood.

One more tidbit. The book is now at the 1.45 millionth best seller, but it's #18 in the Computer & Internet > Computer Science > Algorithms > Memory Management catagory. Cool. I wonder just how many preorders there have been.
