It's done! Sort of

I can finally post the entry I've been wanting to for months. I finished up the instructor's manual and sent it off for editing. After a round or two of copy editing, it should be completely done, and the project will finally be completed. With my birthday coming up soon, that will be a very welcome birthday present. I intend to take a little time to relax and recharge before starting to think about a next project. In the mean time, cleaning up my office will be a major project in itself...

Not much else has happened with me lately. This past weekend, we went to Nashville to see my daughter in the all-state band concert. She's only been playing flute for about 3 years, but made all-state as a sophomore. She was the first flute ever from her school to go to all-state.

Speaking of my daughter, the college game is getting going for real. In an earlier entry, I mentioned that she had scored amazingly well on her PSAT. Naturally, she filled in the bubble that said that the scores should be sent to colleges. As a result, she has now heard from about 90 schools, including the likes of Harvard, Yale, Stanford, and Caltech. The coup de grace came today. After I got home from work, I was upstairs and heard the phone ring. Then I heard my wife tell my daughter it was a university calling her. Kettering University called her to talk to her about the school. They talked mostly about their internship program. Having schools call late junior year and early senior year is not at all surprising. It's that they called sophomore year that gets me. And it's not like they made a mistake. They knew she was a sophomore. The next couple of years are going to be interesting.
